Friday Vlog 9: Best of My Love
Wow, lots to talk about this week. For some reason I felt really motivated with my new rollerblades, so I dragged my sister out to a little church near my house and we put this little video together. My rollerblade shots still aren't perfect, but I'm getting better. There's definitely a lot more control when you have someone to push you while you're on rollerblades. It's kinda like an evolution to the "Danny Chase" steadicam shots by Garrett Brown from The Shining.
Watch the bokake* in higher quality over at Vimeo here. I actually uploaded it in full 1080p, for those of you who want to see 7D rollerblade Steadicam Merlin footage at 100 ISO.
Also, this past week I figured out how to screen record in Windows 7. So I recorded myself going through the entire process of uploading, editing, magic bullet'ing, etc. It's a 30-minute long video, so watch it at your own risk. I rendered it in full 1080 and 720:
Undoubtedly, my most epic vlog yet. Enjoy, everyone!
* Bokeh (pretty, shallow focus blur) + Bukake (a genre of Japanese pornography), term coined by Stu Maschwitz

Wow, that was great. The rollerblades really do look quite effective. And the light in that video was awesome. I loved it.
Glad that you’re better, and that 2010 is looking so good!
I had such a hard time googling bokake, because there is some non-related term that is NSFW.
Also, “Best of Your Love” was around a long time before Boogie Nights came out. Just saying.
Roller blade steadicam – very Robert Rodriguez. Cool.
Ah, sorry. That NSFW term actually is related to the meaning of the word bokake. I’ll add an asterisk to the post.
I was totally mistaken when I started watching this video. I read the title and thought that it was about your girlfriend Sean. I only found out that it was your sister after reading the info…..:P
Yea, the title was a bit misleading. If I didn’t know she was his sister, I would’ve thought she’s his girlfriend too
Nice little bokake. And thanks a lot for the Screencast — tres helpful
Epic vLog indeed.
Roller blades a giving such a great effect. Plus the 7d looks amazing. Who doesnt love 1080p
Great work Sean
Nice blog site Sean!
Evie! How are ya?
thanks for sharing the screen record of your editing. what program did you use to record the screen?
I have it uploaded on Vimeo, too. Used the new version of Fraps that has built in desktop screen recording in Windows 7. Works really well, but using the default (uncompressed) settings, it takes up a huge amount of space.
